Former coach of the U.S. gymnastics team selects a theater company after being prosecuted

-John Gathert, 63, who led the US women’s mechanical gymnastics team at the 2012 London Olympics, died a few hours after being prosecuted on charges of trafficking and sexual assault on the 25th (local time).

According to AFP and CNN, the prosecution indicted Gathert on 24 charges this morning, including trafficking, sexual assault, and false statements. Gathert was scheduled to appear at the prosecution this evening, but did not appear and was found instead as a cold corpse.

Gathert is also accused of assisting Larry Nassar, a former national team doctor, in molesting hundreds of athletes at his own Michigan Twister gymnastics training facility.

Gathert continued to support him after the American Gymnastics Association dismissed Nassar in the summer of 2015, saying, “He’s an extremely professional doctor.” Nassar was finally admitted to all charges three years later and was sentenced to 175 years in prison, and Gathert was suspended from the American Gymnastics Association. In the course of Nasser’s trial, the victims were also sexually assaulted by Gedert, and Gedett also said It has been subject to investigation by the police since 2018.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said, “Gathert has inflicted extreme emotional and physical abuse, including sexual assault, on young athletes who came to learn gymnastics.” I am having a hard time.”
