JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com– Former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Jimly Asshiddiqie believes that the discourse of rolling out the right to inquiry regarding alleged fraud in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) is just a political bluff.
Jimly is of the view that the right of inquiry has no effect because it is rolled out within a limited time, namely 8 months before the inauguration of the president and vice president on October 20 2024, so
“That’s the right of inquiry, the right of interpellation, the right of inquiry, investigation, yes, we don’t have time for these 8 months anymore, this is just political bluffing,” said Jimly at the MUI office, Jakarta, Wednesday (21/2/2024) .
Jimly said that there are many channels that can be used if you feel there is fraud in the election, namely through Bawaslu, DKPP, or submitting a dispute to the Constitutional Court.

Moreover, this constitutional law expert believes that the alleged fraud will not only benefit one camp, but all three candidates in the 2024 presidential election.
“So don’t act out of anger and stir up collective hatred and then mobilize a movement for impeachment or whatever it is called,” he said.
Jimly also advised all candidates not to cause any new excitement, instead congratulating the pair who had excelled in the quick count of a number of institutions.
This is because the quick count results generally do not differ from the official calculation results determined by the General Election Commission (KPU).
“Even if you don’t want to give congratulations, wait after the KPU’s decision (give) congratulations, but don’t overdo it, wait patiently, don’t overdo it,” said the DPD member.
The idea of rolling out the right of inquiry to investigate allegations of election fraud was first raised by the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 3, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
Ganjar encouraged his two political parties, PDI-P and the United Development Party, to use the right of inquiry because according to him the DPR should not be silent about allegations of fraud which he said were already naked.
“In this case, the DPR can summon state officials who are aware of the fraudulent practices, including asking the KPU (General Election Commission) and Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Agency) as election organizers to be responsible,” said Ganjar in his statement, Monday (19/2/2024 ).
In a tit for tat, presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan stated that his political party was also ready to roll out the right of inquiry.
The three political parties supporting Anies-Muhaimin are the Nasdem Party, the National Awakening Party and the Prosperous Justice Party.
“We met and discussed steps and we are solid, therefore I say, when the right to inquiry initiative is carried out, these three parties are ready to participate,” he said when met at the THN Anies-Muhaimin Mampang Prapatan Office, South Jakarta, Tuesday (20/2 /2024).
