Former Chelsea Player, Jacob Mellis, Found Homeless and Struggling with Alcoholism

A dramatic present lives a former Chelsea, who went from playing in one of the main teams in Europe to being on the streets. This was reported by the English newspaper Daily Mirrorwho found Jacob Mellis in a complicated situation today, immersed in alcoholism and homeless.

The former English midfielder debuted with the shirt of Chelsea in 2010 in nothing more and nothing less than in a Champions League duel against MSK Zilina, from Slovakia, which would be his first and only appearance with the “Blues”.

Then he would go through several clubs of the English promotion, but his addiction to alcohol ended up taking its toll. In fact, he himself told the newspaper that he was warned by his then Chelsea teammate David Luiz: “He didn’t speak much English, but he warned me. In training, he would make hand signals and ask me: ‘Have you been drinking? Then stop!’

“I spend my days thinking about where I’m going. I have family, but I don’t want to depend on them. I want to try to figure things out my way. It’s been hard. I try not to think too much about what I’m going through. I’m just trying to move on.” Melis said.

“(Alcohol) was something that always got me in trouble. When you drink, you are never really in control of your actions. The alcohol affected my training and the trainers were not happy. I remember showing up to training completely drunk once when I was 19 years old. They sent me home”he remembered.
