Former captains did not come to watch India’s game; Fans are furious

Australia beat India by six wickets in a thrilling ODI World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Dignitaries including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many celebrities came to watch the final. But the absence of former captains Kapildev and Dhoni in the final is now the big talk.

It was earlier reported that the captains of all the teams that have won the World Cup so far will be invited to the final. But Dhoni and Kapil Dev did not come to watch India’s game.

Dhoni is vacationing with his family in his village in Uttarakhand. Dhoni was expected to make it to the World Cup, but it didn’t happen. Kapil Dev had come forward to explain the reason why ICC did not reach the ODI World Cup. His reply was that BCCI has not invited him for the 2023 World Cup final.

‘You invited me so I came. They (BCCI) didn’t invite me and that’s why I didn’t go. That’s all.193 I wanted my full squad for the World Cup to be there. But a lot is happening. They have many responsibilities. It’s normal that sometimes people forget,’ Kapil Dev told ABP News.

Kapil and his team won the first World Cup for India in 1983. Dhoni brought India the first T20 World Cup in 2007 and then the ODI World Cup in 2011. The fans were disappointed that the former captains who gave such great achievements for India were not invited.

In the India-Australia ODI World Cup final held on November 19, Australia defeated India by 240 runs in 43 overs to win their sixth title.
