Nori Spauwen, who was just as eligible last year as party leader for Volt in Amsterdam, has canceled her membership of the party. She no longer wants to be a member of Volt because of her association with MP Nilufer Gündoğan.
–
She writes that down Twitter† “Not in my name are you going to dangle a Member of Parliament who is so under attack from the extreme right. Again: whatever happened in the workplace (we still don’t know).”
Gundogan werd suspended after reports of transgressive behaviour. It is still not clear what Volt means by the cross-border amount. The party is investigating. The Member of Parliament himself has a lawsuit cocked to lift her suspension. She also wants compensation and a rectification.

“You shouldn’t do this to anyone, no matter what she did”
–
“Does Volt realize that every day they take the time to find out if something inappropriate has happened regarding Nilüfer Gündoğan, they give way to the threats, gossip and backbiting about her person?” writes Spauwen. “You shouldn’t do this to anyone, no matter what she did.”
Spauwen withdrew from the party leader election last year due to personal circumstances. She doesn’t get up either the electoral list for the municipal elections and would therefore not end up in the municipal council in any case.

“I have no indications that there are candidates who want to be taken off the list”

Father Garmy, number 2 on the electoral list of Volt Amsterdam, let it be known that he does not think that there are Volt candidate councilors who, like Spauwen, have lost confidence in the party. “You never have guarantees, but I have no indications that there are candidates who want to be removed from the list.”
Garmy says he has confidence in the faction and the board of the party. “It is very annoying for the reporters and for Nilufer himself. We have worked hard on a super fun campaign and then it is a shame that something like this happens. We have fifteen fantastic candidates and want to look ahead.”
