Our option for getting out of the deep crisis was with a strong Euro-Atlantic majority. If you see what the international press is writing about us today – that pro-Western forces will lead Bulgaria out of the crisis. This was stated by the former foreign minister and former ambassador of Bulgaria to Turkey, Nadezhda Neinski, in the program “Face to Face” on BTV.
“I think that the agreement between GERB and We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria could have been done in another way. At the moment, the responsibility lies with those who made this decision, namely the leaders of the two formations. It is extremely large. They don’t trust each other, but they need to start building it. It can be built through a roadmap for reforms,” the diplomat explained.
“What is being created now has its enemies from everywhere. Quite a few dark forces in the state expressed their dismay at the move. Therefore, I expect there will be an attempt to destroy what is being built. The only way to overcome voter disappointment is to have quick and deep reforms that will satisfy the public,” Neinsky believes.
“The clear party commitment that the two political forces have taken shows that they are directly committed to governance. An equal number of experts could be selected from each team. The idea of building trust should not be left behind. If there is trust – a formula will be found, if not – it will be a big test. The local elections will be a test for the project,” warned the former foreign minister.
“Good or bad, this decision must be explained to the voters. Many of them were disappointed. We must also think about the large number of people who did not come out to vote in the elections and whether they will now choose a political force,” she admits.
