In 2001 came the TV program that shocked and took the whole of Norway by storm, namely the legendary “Big Brother”.
One of those who moved into the constantly monitored house at Fornebu was the 25-year-old psychology student Anita Olsen. Now, a full 22 years later, she returns to the TV screen.

Season one of the reality show was a huge success and “talkie”, and made headlines around the country. The subsequent seasons did not have nearly as many viewers, and the contestants from season one became popular with the people.
It was precisely this part of the participation, the celebrity status, that von Krogh did not particularly enjoy.
– Being recognized all the time, it’s actually quite tiring. It wasn’t anything negative – but being watched all the time… Before “Big Brother” I could go to the shop in sweatpants, and I never did that afterwards. So exactly that loss of freedom, I wasn’t happy about that, she says to Nettavisen.
Changed future plans
Anita von Krogh came second in the popular TV competition, and stayed in the house at Fornebu for 97 days.
However, she did not stay in the reality universe.
In the years that followed, von Krogh chose to withdraw from the limelight, and she also took a different path in life than she had planned when she checked into the reality house.
When she participated in “Big Brother” as a 25-year-old, she studied psychology, but ended up with something completely different.
– I wanted to become a parapsychologist, but then life happened instead, she says with a good laugh.

– Then I had children, lived life, fed myself and had a good time. I have also worked a bit as a journalist and become a goldsmith. So today I have my own company and make jewellery, adds von Krogh.

Would never participate again
In other words, the 47-year-old has established a life outside the reality universe since participating, which she enjoys.
She did not want to participate again, neither then nor now.
– I think reality has developed in a rather bad direction, says von Krogh and elaborates:
– A few years after I joined, it was only platinum blonde girls with silicone tits and boys with six packs who joined. It also only became more and more superficial in the years that followed, she explains to Nettavisen.
She also believes that this development contributed to the program not becoming as popular in the years that followed.
– I think the reason why exactly our season of “Big Brother” became so popular, apart from the fact that it was the first, was that we were a group others could identify with, she shares.
– Because when it was just platinum blonde and big tits all the time, you lost a bit of closeness to the participants who watch. And I would not be involved in that, emphasizes Anita von Krogh.
