Former Beach Boy Brian Wilson hopes fans will act for boycott hunters NOW

Former The Beach Boys singer Brian Wilson encourages fans not to go to a performance by his former band. The band plays on Wednesday at the Safari Club International Convention, a convention for trophy hunters. Wilson publicly distances himself from this.

“This organization supports the hunt for trophies, which Al (Jardine, former guitarist ed.) And I are strongly against,” he writes on Twitter. To reinforce his words, the 77-year-old Wilson has started a petition, which has now been signed more than 100,000 times.

Wilson’s former bandmate Mike Love now leads the band and has let them know not to abandon the performance for the time being. “We look forward to an evening full of great music and, as always, support freedom of thought and expression, a fundamental principle of our rights as Americans.” The 78-year-old Love is the only Beach Boy from the original formation that still plays in the band.

At the Safari Club International Convention, President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., is one of the speakers. He is known as an avid trophy hunter. At the convention, visitors can buy the latest weapons and attend workshops on how to set up a trophy room. There will also be an auction where, among other things, a well-organized hunting trip of one week to Alaska is offered.

Together with Jardine, Wilson still plays the songs they wrote themselves. Love has the right to the name of the influential band. The Beach Boys broke through internationally in the sixties with surf rock numbers like Wouldn’t it be nice and God Only Knows.
