Josh SeiterThe 36-year-old denies he had anything to do with the murder scam that was shared on his Instagram account this week. the previous Bachelorette Star said it took him 18 hours to announce he was alive and well because his main priority was finding out who made a fake statement about his faked death. “In my opinion, at least, I’m not a celebrity. i’m not famous I don’t have a team that makes statements,” he said TMZin an interview about the dizziness.

Josh also described himself as a “victim” of the insensitive hoax and apologized for taking almost a day to confirm he was fine. “Sorry, I’m not perfect. I think I could have done something besides trying to prove I’m alive on Instagram,” he explained. “But I don’t have any experience with it.”

“I did my best. And I’m sorry for everyone who was hurt by that person. I am a victim. And there are victims, too,” he continued. “It’s sad that the tributes have gone up, but I’m not responsible for that.”

Josh’s latest statements come after his ex-girlfriend Monica Beverly Hillz accused him of being part of the scam. In a statement she released on Aug. 29, she wrote that she was “glad to hear” that Josh was alive, but was “so angry” at what he allegedly did. “It’s upsetting that so many people who care about Josh are deeply affected by this,” Monica wrote at the beginning of her statement, before saying she believes he “was able to accomplish this feat as a cisgender white man.”

Josh’s followers were shocked and saddened by what they believe to be the legitimate obituary on his social media page earlier this week. There was immediate speculation that the “death” was related to his mental health issues, which he’s been very open about over the years, and tributes have been posted all over Instagram and beyond. Eighteen hours after the death notice was released, Josh posted a video assuring that he was alive and well.

“As you can see, I’m alive and well,” he said in the video. “My account has been hacked. For the last 24 hours I’ve been trying desperately to get into it. Someone played a cruel joke, mocking my mental illness and the struggles I’ve been going through with depression and suicide attempts.” He also apologized for the “confusion” and announced that he was investigating who was responsible for publishing the false statement.
