Former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz will go to work for a private company in the United States at the end of January, the Austrian newspaper Osterreich reported, citing its sources.

According to the newspaper, Kurz signed a contract with a private company before Catholic Christmas. The former head of the Austrian government will work in the field of investment.

His future annual income is estimated at 500,000 euros, the newspaper said. The company name was not specified. He and his family will spend most of their time in the United States, sometimes coming to Austria.

On December 2, Kurz announced his retirement from politics following an ongoing investigation against him on suspicion of complicity in bribery and breach of trust.
