Former ATP player Patrick McEnroe, brother of champion John McEnroe, named the Serbian player, recent Roland-Garros winner, as the best player of all time, during his Podcast The Holding Court.
A title which for him explains not only the number of Grand Slams won, but also his adaptability and his longevity on the circuit. Qualities which place him according to the American as the best player in history, and which in his opinion make him the big favorite for Wimbledon.
« Now that he’s 23 [titres du Grand Chelem], that’s not all for me. He has 23, the other is 22 [pour Rafael Nadal] and 20 for Roger [Federer]. It’s a question of longevity, surfaces, he has at least three in all the major tournaments, including his third at Roland-Garros. This is his record against these two other great players. It is also his incredible ability to give the best of himself in the most important moments. You know, he beat them (Editor’s note: Federer and Nadal) more than they beat him. To beat him, you have to be at his best. He never plays a bad game in important moments. I consider him the greatest male tennis player at 23 Grand Slams but now there is Wimbledon, where he will be the big favorite »
