The race for the vacant Senate seat in the US state of Arizona was won by Democratic candidate Mark Kelly, reports the AP news agency. Kelly, a former astronaut who has been a Senator for the Democratic Party for the past two years, faced Republican Blake Masters, a venture investor and newcomer to the world of politics, last week.
After accounting for more than 83% of the state’s vote, profit can no longer escape Kelly, the AP judges. With that, both Democrats and Republicans have now won 49 seats in the Senate, which has 100 seats. But the Democrats have an advantage: in a 50-50 vote, Vice President Kamala Harris can win the vote, in favor of the Democrats.
Now Nevada and Georgia
The results are not yet known in two states. Georgia will have one next month outflow-elections between candidates from both parties, neither of whom won an outright majority this week.
In Nevada, votes continue to be counted: Republican candidate Laxalt has just under 1,000 votes ahead of Democratic competitor Cortez Masto, with just under 95 percent of the votes counted. It is not yet known when that result will come.
Furthermore, four days before the elections, it is still not clear in the House which party has the majority: the Republicans it now occupies 211 seats thereDemocrats 201. A majority requires 218.
