Having coped with the challenges caused by the outbreak of Covid-19, Pēteris Kļaviņš left a leading position in the Baltic business of the pharmaceutical giant “AstraZeneca” last spring in order to develop his own start-up, which operates in a radically different field. “Viangoo” is a platform for the delivery of bulk cargo, which unites customers – construction companies and individuals who build, material suppliers and transport companies.
In the conversation with “Delfi Bizness”, Kļaviņš does not hide that the initial business model of “Viangoo” failed. Therefore, the ready-made solution had to be significantly modified.
At the beginning of this year, “Viangoo” started on the market, but there is still no shortage of challenges. For example, it was intended that truck drivers would use the app in a similar way to drivers of the taxi service “Bolt”. However, it turned out to be an illusion.
He did not engage in detailed negotiations
Kļaviņš obtained a bachelor’s degree in health care, so entering the pharmaceutical industry is called natural. In total, he has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a little over 14 years, slowly climbing up the career ladder. He started his work at SIA “AstraZeneca Latvija” as the head of the product group and rose to the position of head of the representative office in Latvia and head of the Baltic business unit.
The work in these positions coincided with the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. It should be reminded that “AstraZeneca” is one of the pharmaceutical companies that provided a vaccine against Covid-19.
