The startup Humane, founded by former Apple employees, introduced the AI Pin device, a wearable AI assistant. The gadget is already in the media called “an alternative to a smartphone.”
The $699 gadget is a module that attaches to clothing like a brooch or badge using a magnet. The device weighs about 50 grams.
AI Pin is equipped with a microphone, camera and special sensors, but it does not have a display. The user can control it using voice and gestures. The device’s projector also displays control panels and information on the user’s palm or various surfaces.
According to the developer, the device’s camera and microphone turn on on demand to use AI to answer questions, find the information you need, take a photo, translate text or speech, send a message or play music to suit your mood.
AI Pin is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor – which one is unknown – and runs on the CosmOS operating system specially created for it, which is responsible for connecting the gadget to Microsoft and OpenAI artificial intelligence models. How notes The Verge, previous Humane reports stated that AI Pin runs primarily on GPT-4.
Ai Pin will be available to order in the US starting November 16th. For the device to work, users will also need a monthly subscription of $24 to get a phone number and access to mobile data.
