SuperNova has been able to attract a big name as a guest speaker. None other than former President Barack Obama will take part in a warm-up for the Antwerp technology festival next month in the Studio 100 Pop-Up Theater.
“An evening with President Barack Obama,” SuperNova proudly presents. On Sunday, March 17, the ex-president will travel to Puurs to participate in a moderated discussion about the challenges of the world and his vision of the future. “It is an honor to welcome such an inspiring and influential speaker as Obama,” says organizer Jürgen Ingels. “He boosted the American economy during a period of great challenge and change.”
The evening with Obama should warm entrepreneurs up for SuperNova, the two-day technology event that will take place on March 20 and 21 in the Antwerp Waagnatie. There they can listen to speakers from Tesla, NASA and Apple, among others. According to the organization, start-ups and scale-ups also have the opportunity to network with more than a hundred international investors.
“The people from SuperNova contacted me at the end of last week,” the mayor of Puurs, Koen Van den Heuvel (CD&V), responded on Radio 1. “Now we are going to prepare that, especially with our police services in terms of safety. That is of course also at a higher level.”
“Obama will only be here for a few hours for the lecture. The overnight stay will probably take place in Brussels or Antwerp. Not in our little B&B here,” the mayor jokes.
Van Den Heuvel, who also hopes to be able to watch Obama himself, confirms that a lot of security is also provided for an ex-president. “Certainly for the people who will be present at the lecture, and certainly the people who pay to take a photo with him. These are all checked in advance, so that certainly not the wrong people besides Barack Obama are preparing.”
