The Wagner group is among Russia’s most powerful weapons in Ukraine. Wagner is a loosely organized network of mercenaries with close ties to the Russian authorities.
They are known to be very brutal and have been accused of war crimes in different places around the world.
The group is led by President Putin’s close friend and partner, Yevgeny Prigozhin. The oligarch Prigozhin made his fortune with a catering company and is called, among other things, “Putin’s chef”.
Now, following questions from the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, the chef reveals some details about the organization’s soldiers.
20 fins
Gloomy message: – Difficult
– There are not many Finnish citizens in Wagner. There are about 20 of them, but for obvious reasons I cannot give exact information about them, Prigosjin tells the Finnish newspaper, via the press service of his catering company.
– They are mostly highly qualified specialists, very ideological and highly motivated. I have a very good opinion of the Finns on the battlefield. They fight in a British battalion which is part of Wagner. It is led by an American citizen who was formerly a general in the United States Marine Corps, he also says.
Avisa has asked the Finnish intelligence service Supo for comment. They reply that they do not wish to comment on Prigozhin’s accusations.
The Russians had their list ready
Both Helsingin Sanomat’s questions and Prigosjin’s answers are also posted on the Telegram channel of the Concord catering company.
Prigozhin is, among other things, internationally wanted by the US FBI. They promised a $250,000 reward to anyone with information leading to Prigozhin’s arrest.
– Bomb pears
He is wanted on suspicion of influencing the 2016 US election.
Executed Mercenary: – Killed like an animal
On his company’s Telegram channel, Russian newspaper VEK reportedly asked him questions about this bounty.
– I see it very positively. Think how many ordinary people can earn extra money. Yes, I wouldn’t have minded either. The only worrying thing is that they have been promising this money for three years, but it doesn’t seem like they have paid anyone, Prigozhin wrote in a statement.
– Therefore, you must be aware of scammers and not be fooled. Arresting me is as easy as bombing light bulbs. Either they are at work, in the Donbas or in the area, she writes.
