Former Algerian national team star Rabah Madjer apologized for not accepting the invitation of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to attend the 2023 Cannes final.
Former Algerian football star Rabah Madjer decided not to attend the 2023 Côte d’Ivoire Africa Cup of Nations final, and politely apologized to the continental body, according to what was revealed by the “Foot Afrique” website.
According to what sources revealed to the “Foot Afrique” website, Madjer apologized to the Continental Federation for not accepting the invitation to attend the final, due to his commitments in the Asian continent, noting that he worked as an analyst for the Iraqi “Dijlah” channel, in the Asian Nations Cup finals.
The previous website drew attention to the fact that many believe that the decision to absent the “Desert Warrior” from the Cannes Côte d’Ivoire final was due to CAF ignoring him to attend a meeting of leaders of teams that had previously won the African Cup.
For its part, the “CAF” body did not reveal the reason for not extending an invitation to Rabah Madjer to attend the meeting of the leaders of those teams, knowing that he was the captain when the Algerian team won the “Cannes” title in 1990.

The “Foot Afrique” website noted that Madjer’s exclusion from that meeting, which was held yesterday, Saturday, in the Ivorian capital, “Abidjan”, is the same thing that applies to his compatriot, Riyad Mahrez, who led Algeria to win the “Cannes” 2019.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had invited many former African stars, including… The Algerian Rabah Madjer, to attend the continental wedding match between the host country, Côte d’Ivoire, and its rival, Nigeria.
