First he was involved in crushing AIK.
Then Arnor Sigurdsson sent a greeting to the opponents.
– I just say thank you for Jesper Ceesay.
An “AIK player” acted as a dominant and powerful ball winner at the Friends Arena.
Unfortunately, for the home team, he played in IFK Norrköping. Jesper Ceesay, 21, was in search of playing time and left Gnaget for Beijing just before the transfer window closed.
There he has immediately become a starting player and against AIK he outshone old competitors such as Bilal Hussein, Jimmy Durmaz and Abdussalam Magashy. Ceesay had a key role when IFK Norrköping ran over AIK both physically and in terms of play. In the end, it was fair 3-0 to the away team at Friends Arena.
– It is easy for journalists to say “how the hell could AIK let him go when he is this good”. But I have to give Jesper full credit. It was a difficult match for him to come to AIK and perform. There was pressure on Jesper but both with and without the ball he does a fantastic performance. I’ve talked to him about being tougher in defense and he shows that today, says Norrköping coach Glen Riddersholm.
“They should have played me more”
Quote that of course pleased Ceesay.
– I’m happy about that. Having confidence from coaches is something I haven’t had in a while so it’s something I appreciate a lot.
Will it be extra nice that it is against AIK?
– Yes actually.
A bit like “look what you missed”?
– It was a bit like that. Sat on the bench a hell of a lot there, too. So it was extra nice to come here and have a perfectly okay match. I think they think they should have played me more.
You have played in both clubs recently. Are you surprised at how superior you guys were?
– Actually a little. Especially the first half. When I was in AIK, it was still a good level. Damn, they’re careless as hell. But we are good, Sigurdsson is wonderful and does what he wants.
“Don’t know what he actually said…”
In the middle of the interview, the Norrköping coach Riddersholm strolls past and pays a spontaneous tribute to Marcus Baggesen before thanking him for the day and sneaking out on the player bus.
Which Jesper Ceesay did not fully understand.
– Haha… Difficult with the Danish as well…
At least you have understood that he has confidence in you?
– Haha, I have understood that. That was partly why I signed up. I had a good buzz with him and he said how he wanted to use me.
In English then?
– It was in Danish. Few words appeared. I don’t know what he actually said but it sounded good, haha.
“Thank you, AIK”
The star Arnor Sigurdsson, who dominated for Beijing and also scored 3-0, is in any case very satisfied that the club picked Ceesay from AIK.
– I think they are disappointed that they released him after the game today. He is a great player who plays a great game. Wins all duels and fantastic in the passing game, says Sigurdsson and finishes with a smile:
– I just say thank you.
Bilal Hussein, former teammate, was not as pleased.
– You would of course like to have him in AIK. But it is what it is. He chose to leave to play.
Coach Andreas Brännström showed no bitterness over the club’s decision to sell Ceesay.
– In the middle of everything, I’m happy for him. Nice for Jesper, but I don’t have more to say than that.
