Former Afghan Minister Becomes Food Courier in Germany

Former Minister of Communications Afghanistan In the 2016-2018 era who now lives in Germany, Sayed Sadaat continues his life by delivering food such as pizza by bicycle.

Even though he has served as a minister, he is not ashamed to take up his current job at Lieferando’s company.

“There is no shame at all in working. Work is work,” he told AFP, Monday (30/8).

Sadaat works six hours on weekdays. While on holidays he works from noon to 10 pm.

Every time he works, Sadaat wears his signature orange coat. He is seen carrying a large square backpack containing pizza or other orders for customers placed on his bicycle.

“If there is a job, it means that there is a demand from the community that someone must do it,” he continued.

Sadaat is one of thousands of Afghans who have chosen to settle in Germany in recent years.

Since 2015, some 210,000 Afghans have sought asylum in Germany. In the same year, many Syrians and Iraqis also crossed their country to escape war and poverty in the Middle East.

The number of Afghan refugees in Germany is the second largest population after Syrian refugees.
