Former Adviser to Ukrainian President: New Leader Needed to Fight Corruption

Ukraine needed a new leader because the president was unable to deal with corruption

Ukraine needs to be run by another person, as the current leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, could not rid the country of corruption. This opinion was expressed in an interview by the former adviser to the head of the presidential office, Alexey Arestovich.

“Ukraine needs only one thing – to come to power a person who will not steal. He himself will not give to others. Unfortunately, so far we have no luck,” he said, quoted by foreign agencies.

According to Arestovich, the conflict with Russia can be a good reason to take measures to fight corruption.

Earlier, Arestovych said that a counteroffensive by Ukraine’s armed forces would result in huge losses without long-range weapons provided by the West.

According to the former adviser to the presidential office, the head of state has not fully managed to deal with the main problem of Ukraine, although a full-scale war can become a moment when extraordinary measures can be taken.

The former advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovich, told what kind of leader the country needs in order to fight corruption once and for all. He said this in a new interview on Yulia Latynina’s YouTube channel.

According to him, a person should come to power who will not engage in corruption and will not allow his subordinates to do so. At the same time, according to him, there is no one in power today and “unfortunately, we have not been lucky so far”.

Yulia Latynina immediately asked a question about the current head of state Volodymyr Zelensky, but according to the former advisor to the presidential office, he cannot fully resolve this issue.

“Well, he didn’t completely overcome corruption, there are many examples. Clearly, we can say about the war that there were two waves of covid. But from my point of view, the war is just a good reason to take emergency measures and deal with corruption. But as we see, unfortunately, it is not over yet,” said Alexey Arestovich.

After his answer, the former adviser to the OP cited the story of the former head of the Zaporizhia OVA Alexander Starukh, when he and the regional leadership were “caught” for “stealing humanitarian aid from wagons”, and this is a position for which the president personally appoints a person.

“As we see, the selection of personnel is lame, difficult. And then he didn’t do it in a day, not in two – he did it for months,” Alexey Arestovich continued.

On April 2, Alexey Arestovich explained why he spoke of a “two or three weeks” war with the Russian Federation. According to him, in the first days of the confrontation, there were 2 options for action – to calm the society or get millions of mentally unhealthy people.
