D66 targeted informateur Johan Remkes (VVD) on Tuesday: he would have been ‘confused’ when leading the talks. It was even suggested to the media that there is ‘already some booze in the man’ would have been. D66 faction officer Daan Bonenkamp soon had to back down: “It really wasn’t meant to be.” The Great Blonde Beast – dixit Gerrit Zalm – Wouke van Scherrenburg found the attack lower than low.
Revealed a day later NRC Handelsblad that an even more prominent D66 member actively spread the fake news that the VVD veteran had looked too deeply into the glass. The newspaper writes Wednesday evening:
“Several journalists, sources against . confirm NRC, were told that story outside the meeting room of the House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon. The ‘spider’ came from both two spokespersons for the party and from Member of Parliament Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, the campaign manager at the past elections.”
So not only the spin doctors of D66, but even Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, confidant of Sigrid Kaag but above all a Member of Parliament, has deliberately tried to discredit the informateur.
Goes well with that new leadership.
What’s next with the formation? On Thursday, Remkes will speak further with VVD, D66 and CDA. It now seems that the current caretaker coalition going to make a restart.
