The return of communication between the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, and Hezbollah, through his official, Wafiq Safa, came after the first agreed that the list of candidates he would adopt include the name of the candidate, Suleiman Franjieh, after months of his refusal to include his name on it.

The move was considered by an informed source as a formality on the part of Bassil, who does not want communication between him and the party to be interrupted, especially since the collapse of the coalition, although it would harm both parties, but its negative consequences for him and his movement will be exorbitant, especially after he achieved many gains from the coalition, which are almost incalculable.

Bassil is apparently betting on time, perhaps he will carry with him what prompts the party to change its position on Franjieh’s candidacy, especially after the statement of the five-year committee, which called for the election of a coalition president.
