High temperatures and strong winds make it difficult to extinguish the burning fires in the country
Two forest officials died in the firefighting near the Sandanski village of Petrovo, said the director of the South-Eastern District Police, Damyan Damyanov, quoted by BNR and BNT.
The fire, which was extinguished from the ground, quickly became the peak and the employees failed to escape. They are believed to have suffocated. Their colleagues found them on a road that is not in the perimeter of the fire at 4.30 pm. The victims are from BDS – Kresna and Petrich.
There were also victims during the extinguishing, as one of them was transported to the hospital in Sandanski with burns on his back, NOVA reported. The medical institution is preparing to receive more from the victims. Ambulances from the city were sent to the accident.
The fire continues to be extinguished. The terrain is extremely complex, windy and strong wind.
About twenty decares of deciduous forest covered the fire near Petrovo, said earlier the director of the Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” in Blagoevgrad Eng. A large fire broke out this afternoon and near the village of Hissar Starosel. Dry grass is burning around the whole village, said Chief Inspector Dimitar Brishimov from the Fire Department in Plovdiv. The pine forest above the settlement also caught fire, and there are also affected houses.
According to the mayor of Hissarya municipality Penka Ganeva, six houses have been affected so far, their roofs and walls are burning. The people of these houses have been saved. The people in the village are to be evacuated, Penka Ganeva added. She announced that she already has fires in Krastevich and at the “Buntovna” hut. The mayor has sought assistance from the fire service in Strelcha, and assistance has been requested from the unit in Karlovo.
Six teams are on the scene and fighting the flames. A strong wind is blowing, which further complicates the situation. More fire brigades are expected on the spot, as well as the inclusion of a military helicopter.

A pine forest is burning in the Ivaylovgrad region
About 500 decares of deciduous forest and dry grass were burned in the fire near the Ivaylovgrad village of Svirachi, the Haskovo District Administration announced. The fire broke out this afternoon.
Three teams of the fire brigade in Ivaylovgrad got involved in extinguishing the fire. Teams have arrived from Haskovo, Harmanli and Lyubimets. About 30 foresters are also involved in fighting the blaze.
At the moment the fire is under control and a perimeter detour will be carried out. If necessary, the military from 31 mechanized battalions will join tomorrow.
