The fires that affect Canada have dramatic consequences on air quality as far as New York.

The numerous forest fires in Canada have an impact as far as the East Coast of the United States. Smoke from the hundreds of fires affecting eastern Canada has migrated south and enveloped the US city of New York in a hazy veil, The New York Times reported Tuesday evening.

Panoramic photos of Manhattan showed how much smoke had filled New York skies. The city has warned of poor air quality.

After putting measures in place around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said the air quality in parts of the city was “very poor”. Authorities in the Canadian cities of Ottawa and Toronto, as well as the US states of Minnesota and Massachusetts, have also warned residents of poor air quality.

110 fires out of control

Numerous fires have been raging in western and northeastern Canada for several weeks. In the province of Nova Scotia, in the southeast of the country, the situation has improved somewhat. In Quebec, about 160 fires are still active, of which nearly 110 are deemed out of control, local authorities reported on Tuesday.
