The dry and hot weather in the western United States has sparked further forest fires.
In the state of Montana, several thousand people had to leave their homes, as the fire department announced. The region around the village of Lame Deer is particularly affected.
According to the authorities, the fires have now devastated more than 2,000 square kilometers of land in California. More than 1,000 buildings were destroyed. Meteorologists warned that lightning strikes and strong gusts of wind could start new fires.
