Forest fires Algeria: 25 soldiers killed | Abroad

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent his condolences to the relatives of the 25 soldiers on Twitter. He added that they had rescued more than a hundred people in the mountains of Bejaia and Tizi Ouzou. The North African country has asked for help from the international community and is in talks about renting fire-fighting planes, the head of state said on state television.

Local media reports that large fires are raging in several provinces. Helicopters and fire-fighting aircraft are deployed at temperatures up to 46 degrees. Heat and drought are also causing wildfires in other countries around the Mediterranean Sea.
