The fire service is on its way to Kolsåstoppen in Bærum on Monday morning after reports of a forest fire.
The police helicopter is in the air and will assist the fire crews, and the forest fire helicopter is on its way to the scene.
According to the police, there will be a fire in an area of around 180 by 150 metres, and it is currently unknown whether there is a great risk of spreading at the site.
The forest fire danger index is at the red level in Eastern Norway, and it is very dry in the terrain over large parts of southern Norway.
– We see from the cameras that there is a lot of smoke in the area, says operations manager Tore Solberg in the Oslo police district.
Fire crews are also approaching the area with ATVs. This is stated by duty commander Robert Gudmundsen in the fire service.
– Forest fires are certainly not something we want now. It is very dry, the potential is that it will spread and that it will be a long-term event, says Pål Kristian Sivertsen at the fire brigade.
