At least three planes and about 100 firefighters are involved in the fight against forest fires in Evia.
Due to the unusual heat, forest fires broke out in many places in Greece, which led to the mass evacuation of tourists, including from the islands of Rhodes and Corfu.
A representative of the fire service admitted that they are experiencing “the most difficult days of this summer”.
Due to strong winds, the fire in Rhodes continues to spread, while officials warn of extremely high fire danger for almost all of Greece.
Currently, Greek firefighters are supported by colleagues from 11 other European Union (EU) member states.
Large forest fires are also raging on the Peloponnese peninsula near the port city of Aea, as well as on the island of Corfu.
Meanwhile, meteorologists warn that exceptionally high temperatures are expected in Greece on Wednesday, with the thermometer reaching 46 degrees Celsius.

The blaze threatens six villages north and west of Lindos, known for its archaeological sites. Meanwhile, a new fire broke out in the southeast of the island on Tuesday.
The flames are approaching the village of Genadu, from where residents have already been evacuated.
In Rhodes, where an area of 150 square kilometers has already burned, nine planes and three helicopters are fighting the fires.
Countless deer, turtles, and other wild and domestic animals have already died in the fires.
The surviving fallow deer are now looking for water and food in human-populated areas of the island, and animal advocates are calling on Rhodesians to leave water and food in their gardens so the deer can survive.
The fires in Rhodes started last week, and 19,000 tourists and local residents have already been evacuated from the island.
