Al-Karak – Nisreen Al-Damour
Deaths resulting from traffic accidents and homicides recorded the highest proportion of deaths treated by the South Forensic Medicine Center in Karak during the past year, with (59) deaths out of (208) deaths autopsied at the center.
Center director/forensic specialist Dr. Hassan al-Hawari said other autopsied deaths, in addition to traffic accidents and homicides, ranged from drowning, electric shock, falling from height, burns, suicide and poisoning, as well as deaths resulting from multiple pathological causes.
Dr. Al-Hawary explained that (44) bodies of people who died in road accidents were autopsied and (15) deaths resulting from various homicides, as well as (6) cases of drowning, (8) cases of falling from ‘high, (4) cases of electric shock, two cases of burns and two cases of suffocation. And a case of poisoning and a case of suicide. As for the number of deaths caused by pathological conditions, he reached (125), including the death of a fetus in its mother’s womb.
