KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. PT Bank Syariah Bukopin (BSB) is reportedly in the process of seeking additional new capital. According to Kontan.co.id sources who are aware of this, there are several options for additional capital that the company is currently exploring.
First, of course, waiting for additional capital from the parent company, namely PT Bank Bukopin Tbk (BBKP). This is related to the ownership of the majority of BBKP shares by South Korean investor KB Kookmin Bank some time ago.

“Additional capital will be from Bank Bukopin. This year is in accordance with it action our plan, “in short to Kontan.co.id, Monday (12/10).
However, the additional plan from the master is not the only option for Bukopin Syariah. Sumber Kontan.co.id, said there are several potential investors from local and foreign who are willing to enter BSB.
Some time ago, names of foreign investors such as Islamic Development Bank and Affin Bank Berhard Malaysia have indeed become strong candidates and have shown interest in joining BSB.
It’s just that, according to the source, the provisions for foreign ownership of Islamic banks in Indonesia are somewhat complicated. So it is difficult for foreign investors to get certainty, especially from the regulator.
“Bukopin is indeed planning to increase capital, but there are still two foreign parties who have wait and see“said a source from Kontan.co.id, Monday (12/10) evening. According to him, the two parties came from Singapore and Dubai. Unfortunately, Kontan.co.id source could not specify the name of the company or potential investor.
He also said that the plan to increase capital or the entry of new investors is likely to be decided in the near future. In accordance with OJK regulations (POJK) No.12 / POJK.03 / 2020 concerning the Consolidation of Commercial Banks.

In this regulation, OJK requires all banks in the country to have a core capital of at least Rp 3 trillion by 2022. Fulfillment of the minimum core capital is carried out in stages. Among other things, IDR 1 trillion by 31 December 2020, IDR 2 trillion by 31 December 2021, and IDR 3 trillion by 31 December 2022.
When referring to the regulation, BSB is certainly one of the banks that must immediately increase capital. This is because, referring to the second quarter 2020 financial statements, the total core capital of Bukopin Syariah is only Rp 706.72 billion. Still need around Rp 294 billion to be able to fulfill OJK regulations.
