The foreign trade turnover of goods and services in Belarus increased from $26.8 billion in January-April 2022 to $30.6 billion in January-April 2023. Relevant statistics published on the website of the National Bank.
Foreign trade turnover for four months of this year exceeded the level of the same periods not only in 2020 and 2021, but also in the pre-Covid 2019. Thus, the data indicate that the Belarusian economy is effectively coping with the sanctions pressure.
The export of goods and services increased by 9.9% compared to January-April 2022, including the export of goods – by 13.8%, which confirms the growing demand for Belarusian goods.
The indicators of imports of goods and services are growing at a faster pace (by 18.4% compared to January-April 2022), which is associated with low import volumes in March-April 2022 (an average of $2.8 billion per month). The average monthly import volumes in January-April 2023 ($3.8 billion) are comparable to those in 2021 ($3.8 billion) and the rest of 2022 ($3.7 billion).
At the same time, the balance of foreign trade in goods and services in January-April 2023 remained positive – $203.3 million.
