The number of visits by foreign tourists (tourists) to Bali during 2023 it has reached 3.4 million people. According to the Governor of Bali, Wayan Costerthe number of foreign tourist arrivals to the Island of the Gods is getting better this year.

Koster revealed, the hotel occupancy rate in Bali during 2023 also reached 70 percent. This fact makes Koster optimistic that the target for the number of tourists per year in 2023 will be achieved, namely 5.5 million people.

Visits by foreign tourists before the Covid-19 Pandemic or in 2019 reached 6.3 million per year. At that time, Australia contributed the highest number of foreign tourists, reaching 1.3 million per year, followed by tourists from China with a total of 1.2 million per year.

“In 2019 we have 6.3 million foreign tourists (per year). And per day it reaches 17,500 (tourists). For Australia 1.3 million, China almost 1.2 million, the rest are Europe, America, the Middle East and Asia,” said Koster at Wiswa Sabha Utama Building, Office of the Governor of Bali, Renon, Denpasar, Thursday (31/8).

Meanwhile, after the Covid-19 Pandemic or in 2023, tourism on the island of Bali has started to recover and now from January to August 2023 there have been 3.4 million foreign tourists visiting the island of Bali.

Koster predicts that at the end of the year the total number of foreign tourist visits to Bali will reach a minimum of 5.5 million, which will exceed the target of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenkraf) of 4.5 million foreign tourists to Bali.

“Now our tourism is good. Australia has increased. As of (January to) August 24 2023, there are more than 3.4 million foreign tourists. The ministry’s target is 4.5 million people. I calculate this is around December 2023 more than 5.5 million , that minimum,” he said.

Apart from that, Koster believes that foreign tourists coming to Bali are currently of higher quality, because ticket prices continue to rise. He also claims that the Airbus A380 jumbo aircraft owned by Emirates airline is full of passengers every day to land on the Island of the Gods.

“Hotels now cover 70 percent of all of Bali. In fact, it has a better portrait than the normal situation in 2019. But those who come are of higher quality because ticket prices have gone up. Moreover, those who take the A380 are full every day,” he explained.
