“A British national died in Ukraine and another is missing,” the British Foreign Office said in a statement BBCFriday (29/4/2022).
Sources in Ukraine told the BBC that the Briton killed was Scott Sibley, who was known to have fought for Ukrainian forces.
He is the first British citizen confirmed dead in the conflict and has been described as “a friend like no other”.
The British Foreign Office has yet to release the identities of the two men. But a spokesman said it was providing support to their families.

Details of Sibley’s death and how or when a second person went missing are not yet known.
Diplomatic sources said it was most likely that the two men were foreign volunteers serving with the Ukrainian armed forces in Mariupol or elsewhere in the Donbas.
Tributes have been paid to Sibley online, who is known to be a former member of the British armed forces, including on Facebook and a fundraising page created in his memory.
