Foreign policy researcher: It was a big mistake: allowing immigrants to flow into Europe unchecked

There is a migration crisis in Europe – in the TV24 program “Dienas personība ar Velta Puriņu” the course and reasons for the emergence of the crisis are confidently explained by a board member of the Latvian Transatlantic Group and a researcher at the Institute of the United Nations. Latvian Foreign Policy, Sandis Šrāders.

“The migration crisis in Europe started at a time when Angela Merkel chose to open the doors of the European Union to migrants from the Middle East, saying: whoever comes to Germany first will get the security guarantees or the welfare that the people of Germany. This was largely done to invite families from Syria to help flee the Assad regime. But for a simple Syrian family of father, mother and children, selling their belongings and leaving the country is like attending their own funeral. And what happened? The first to come to Germany were people who had less to leave at home, who were physically developed. As a result, they became not only a burden on the German social system, but also an internal threat. Migrants threatened German culture with their culture, safety with their behavior, especially German women, because in the eastern regions the role of women is different, it is not like in Europe, there is a uniform culture and behavior also different. We must understand that these people came from regions where democratic values are foreign, where the culture is different. We see that the security situation has worsened in France, Britain and other countries where these immigrants are. And it has been a big mistake: allowing immigrants to flow into Europe unchecked. “
