Foreign National Verbally Assaults Girls in South Sinai: Egyptian Interior Ministry Takes Legal Action

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Egyptian Ministry of Interior commented on a circulating video clip of a person “verbally assaulting” two girls in South Sinai Governorate, noting that the person who appeared in the clip “is not Israeli” but rather holds the citizenship of a foreign country.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry said in a statement on its page on “X”, previously Twitter: “In the context of circulating a video clip on social media sites in which a person with a foreign nationality appears verbally assaulting two girls in South Sinai Governorate, and claiming that the aforementioned person is of Israeli nationality.”

The Egyptian Interior Ministry added in the same statement: “Upon examination, it was found that the person shown in the video clip holds the nationality of a foreign country and not an Israeli national, and that the two girls filed a report with the security authorities because he assaulted them.”

The Ministry confirmed in the same statement that “legal measures have been taken… and the necessary measures are being taken regarding it,” she said.

A number of tweeters circulated a video clip showing a young man and the voices of two girls accusing him of “harassing them on the beach,” while the young man provoked the two girls and directed “insults to them,” in addition to saying the phrase, “This is Israeli land,” in reference to South Sinai, as he claimed.
