Foreign Ministry turns to Twitter for help: Støre and Huitfeldt listed as Nigerian

NEW POSITION: On Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre’s Twitter account, he is listed as a “Nigeria government official”.

On Twitter, it might appear that Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt have new jobs.

The Twitter accounts of Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs account are all marked as Nigerian authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now calling for this to be corrected.

– Dear Twitter Support, Despite how much we enjoy our wonderful bilateral relations and close alphabetic relationship with Nigeria, we would really appreciate it if you could tag us as Norway, writes UD on his account on the social platform.

– PS This also applies to Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt, they add.

ERROR: On Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt’s Twitter account, it says she is a “Nigerian government official”.

The political adviser for the Prime Minister’s Office, Emma Svarva Giskås, writes the following in an email to VG:

– We are aware that there has been a labeling error on the Prime Minister’s Twitter account and are in contact with Twitter to correct it.
