Foreign Ministry denies Russian fake about Ukraine’s plans to use “dirty bomb” against Zaporizhia nuclear power plant

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tychy denied Russian information about alleged Ukrainian plans to use “dirty bombs” or attack the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

As Ukrinform reports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced this on Facebook.

“We are following another outbreak of crazy Russian propaganda about Ukraine’s alleged plans to use ‘dirty bombs’ or attack nuclear power plants. We officially deny this fake news. Ukraine has neither the intention nor the ability to carry out such actions. Russia must stop spreading dangerous lies,” Tychyj stressed.

The Foreign Ministry noted that Ukraine has always been and remains a loyal member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

“We do not have any ‘dirty bombs’ and have no plans to acquire them. When Russia first spread this nonsense in 2022, we invited the IAEA mission, which completely refuted this lie. Nothing has changed since then,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed.

As reported, Russia last actively spread a fake story about a “dirty bomb” and nuclear threats in the fall of 2022. Russian propagandists and officials began doing this immediately after Ukraine’s successes at the time: the counteroffensive in Kharkiv Oblast and the liberation of Kherson.
