AMMAN, May 1 (Xinhua) — The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and Syria met on Monday to discuss a political solution to the crises humanitarian, security and political situation in Syria.
At the end of a consultative meeting in Amman, capital of Jordan, the ministers stressed that the priority was to end the Syrian crisis through a political solution that preserves the unity, cohesion and sovereignty of Syria .
According to a statement from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, this political solution should contribute to the voluntary and safe return of refugees, the departure of illegal foreign forces from Syria and the restoration of security and stability in the country.
A series of meetings will be held to follow up on the talks aimed at resolving the Syrian crisis, in accordance with Security Council resolution 2254, the ministry said.
Ministers also agreed to intensify work with the international community and the United Nations to accelerate the implementation of early recovery projects, including improving infrastructure and providing decent living conditions for refugees hoping to return. at their home.
They also agreed to help Syria to carry out its legitimate control of the territories, to impose the rule of law, to end the presence of armed and terrorist groups and to put an end to foreign interference in the internal affairs of the country. . END
