Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan will visit the United States today, May 1. There they will hold talks with the participation of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, according to site State Department.
First, Mr. Blinken will hold separate meetings with the ministers of both countries at the George Schultz National Training Center for Foreign Affairs. Joint talks between Messrs. Bayramov and Mirzoyan with the Secretary of State will begin there at 16:45 Moscow time.
Yesterday, April 30, Anthony Blinken held telephone conversations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The Secretary of State stressed the importance of opening the Lachin Corridor for private and commercial transport. On April 29, Mr. Blinken spoke on the phone with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan escalated after Azerbaijan installed a border checkpoint in the Lachin corridor in April.
