Yesterday in Washington, Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano met with Deputy Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment José Fernández and Congressman Jason Smith, member of the House of Representatives for the state of Missouri, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, and member of the Budget Committee and the Subcommittees on Social Security and Human Resources.

With the former, they discussed trade, investments and cooperation in technological and security matters. The foreign minister explained to the official Paraguay’s intention to become part of the Alliance for Economic Prosperity in the Americas (APEP).

The congressman and the president reviewed the topics discussed during President Santiago Peña’s visit to the Capitol on May 16, and the subsequent communications between the president and the legislator.

Ramírez Lezcano also met again with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS). They discussed the situation in Venezuela and agreed on the need to find a democratic solution to the crisis facing that country.

At the OAS, he also participated in the opening of the VII Inter-American Week of Indigenous Peoples.
