President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is reportedly seriously considering supporting party president Gerindra Prabowo Subianto from Presidential elections of 2024. Gerindra’s general secretary Ahmad Muzani said he was grateful if Jokowi’s approval had actually taken place.
“And if there is the support of President Joko Widodo, wow, we are very proud. For us, this is incomparable support,” Muzani said in his statement on Tuesday (20/9/2022).
However, Muzani said Gerindra didn’t want to overdo it. He didn’t want the news to be one-sided.

“If that’s true. But the problem is that maybe we’re the ones who are geer, that’s the problem. That’s why we don’t want Nggege Mongso either, we don’t want this to be just a one-sided deal. So if that’s true, Alhamdulillah, we are grateful to you and I am proud of it, “he said.
Earlier, Gerindra’s vice chairman of the board of trustees, Desmond J Mahesa, spoke about Jokowi’s promotion or support of the 2024 presidential candidates. He said Jokowi wanted to seek safety.
“Yes, if Jokowi supports anyone. Ganjar, Erick Thohir, Pak Sandi, all of them maybe he is looking for safety. Whoever the president is, he (Jokowi) is safe from his current problem,” Desmond told reporters at the Parliament Complex. Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (20/9).
This was communicated by Desmond when asked about Singapore’s media coverage, The Straits Times, titled “Jokowi Decides Presidential Hope He Will Support, Has No Intention to Run for Vice President in 2024: Sources.” In the article, Jokowi is said to be seriously considering backing Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election.
Desmond then spoke of the importance of Jokowi’s support for Gerindra Prabowo Subianto’s general president in the 2024 presidential election. Desmond said there would be no problem if Jokowi didn’t back Prabowo.
“It’s important not important (support). We’ll see. If it’s supported, thank goodness, if it’s not supported, it’s okay,” Desmond said.
