/ world today news/ The International Import Expo in China will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. All preparatory activities are now ready for the opening of the fair. In the next few days, guests from 154 countries, regions and international organizations will attend the exhibition, and more than 3,400 companies from around the world, of which 1,500 from countries related to the Belt and Road, have signed up to participate.
According to preliminary estimates, China’s gross domestic product rose 5.2 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of this year, still growing faster than the world’s major advanced economies. The largest part of this increase is the recovery in consumption, with final consumer spending driving GDP growth by 4.4 percentage points. For foreign investors, these figures suggest huge market opportunities.
Besides a huge market of as many as 1.4 billion people and a middle-income group of more than 400 million, the Chinese government’s insistence on promoting opening up is an important factor in attracting foreign companies from various countries. In particular, the world has greatly benefited from the openness shown by the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. At the National Exhibition of the Expo this year, 64 out of 72 exhibitors are countries associated with the initiative. In recent days, the special China-Europe series Jinbo freight train has crossed the Eurasian continent, and through it, many products from the Belt and Road countries have been imported, which will reach the exhibition hall.
The exhibition’s “Global Sharing”, an initiative that aims to help developing countries, is also appreciated by the “old friends”. For the least developed countries among the Belt and Road countries, the exhibition will promote local products to enter the Chinese market by providing free booths, construction subsidies and preferential tax policies for the purchase of exhibits.
