Nearly 170,000 foreign cars entered the Ghent low-emission zone unregistered last year. In theory, a fine of 150 euros awaits them, but the chance of being caught is small. “Since 2020, the city of Ghent has missed about 39 million euros in revenue,” calculated council member Anneleen Van Bossuyt (N-VA).
