Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Putin | Erdogan asks Putin to declare a ceasefire with Ukraine

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan calls on Russian President Vladimir Putin to declare a ceasefire with Ukraine.

The Reuters news agency writes it.

Even the supreme head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, has called for a ceasefire in Ukraine, then on the occasion of the Orthodox Christmas celebrations.

This was written by the Russian state news agency tax.

– I, Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, call on all parties involved in the conflicts to cease fire and establish a Christmas truce from 12:00 on January 6 to midnight on January 7, so that Orthodox Christians can go to religious services on Christmas Eve and on the day of Christ’s birth, writes the patriarch in a press release.

Tom Røseth, dean of intelligence at the Norwegian Defense Academy, was already aware that a ceasefire is not necessarily in the best interests of Ukrainians.

– We know that Russian ambitions for Ukraine have not changed, the Kremlin will continue to take as much territory as possible in the four Ukrainian counties it illegally annexed. A ceasefire now will only benefit Moscow, Røseth told Nettavisen in December last year.
