A frosty weekend awaits us, which will start with a code yellow for high winds across much of the country.
This is what forecasters from NIMH warn in their forecast for the weekend.
On Saturday, it will be mostly sunny over most of the country. Before noon in Eastern Bulgaria, the cloudiness will be significant and in the extreme eastern regions it will still rain, but there the precipitation will stop and the cloudiness will break. A moderate, temporarily strong north-westerly wind will blow in the Danube plain and the Upper Thracian plain. Maximum temperatures will be between 1° and 6°, in Sofia – around 1°.
Over the Black Sea, the cloudiness will be significant and it will still rain in some places before noon. After noon, the clouds will break and decrease. It will be windy with a moderate, temporarily strong northwesterly wind. Maximum temperatures will be 6°-7°. The temperature of the sea water is 13°-14°. The excitement of the sea will be 2-3 points.
Clouds over the mountains will be scattered, often significant. There will be snow showers in some places. A strong and stormy northwest wind will blow, which in the passes of the Central Stara Planina will create conditions for drafts. The maximum temperature at a height of 1200 meters will be around minus 4°, at 2000 meters – around minus 12°.
“Meteo Balkans” make an even more chilling forecast – according to them, during the weekend (23-24.11.2024) the expected minimum temperatures in the regions of Trun, Pernik, Dragoman, Sofia, Kyustendil, Samokov and Ikhtiman will drop to minus 12-15 degrees in Celsius. It will also be cold in the Danube plain, where the minimum temperatures will be between minus 5 and minus 8 degrees Celsius.
It will be mostly sunny on Sunday and Monday. Winds will ease to near calm weather; on the first day of the new week in eastern areas it will still be moderate, from the north-northwest. In the morning it will be cold with minimum temperatures between minus 7° and minus 2°, in the valleys up to minus 10°. Daytime temperatures will rise and Monday’s highs will be between 7° and 12°.
