An increase in geomagnetic activity is not expected in the near future.

Forecast of solar and geomagnetic activity for January 11-13, 2024 published US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Center.

Geomagnetic storms are classified by power level – K-index – from 2 to 9. The higher the K-index, the stronger the storm and its consequences and impact on people and equipment.

Today, January 11, Geomagnetic activity with a K-index of 3 (green level) is expected, which corresponds to a weak magnetic storm that is not capable of affecting people’s well-being. Tomorrow, January 12, activity will drop to K-index 2 and the magnetosphere will return to normal. But 13th of January An increase in solar activity is expected, but only slightly – up to K-index 3.
