Forecast of Geomagnetic Activity for December 4-10, 2023

Geomagnetic activity will be at high levels this week, but will decrease towards the end of the week.

Forecast of solar and geomagnetic activity for the week of December 4-10, 2023 published US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Center.

Geomagnetic storms are classified by power level – K-index – from 2 to 9. The higher the K-index, the stronger the storm and its consequences and impact on people and equipment.

On Monday, December 4it is expected that geomagnetic activity will correspond to K-index 4 – yellow level (average solar storm), and already on Tuesday – 5th of December – will rise to the red level – K-index 5 is a strong storm that can affect people’s well-being.

December 6 and 7 Average solar activity with a K-index of 4 is expected, and by the end of the week – December 8-10 – it will drop to the green level with index 2 and the magnetosphere will return to normal.
