Ford published a small video showing the winter tests of the F-150 pickup with an electric power plant. The premiere of the car should take place in mid-2022. The production of a “green” pickup truck will be established at the company’s new facility in Michigan, reports Carscoops… Investments in the new complex amounted to $ 700 million.
All technical characteristics of the model are still kept secret. The Americans have so far only promised that the electric pickup will be much more powerful than the current F-150 with gasoline and diesel engines. The company also stressed that the new items still have to go through a huge number of tests in laboratory tests and real road conditions.
In addition, Ford promised that the pickup will be able to tow “very heavy loads.” However, the exact figures have not yet been given. According to unofficial information, the car will be equipped with two electric motors. The total power of the pickup truck will exceed 450 horsepower.
This summer, the Americans introduced the current generation F-150 pickup. The car first got a hybrid power plant. It includes a 3.5-liter EcoBoost supercharged gasoline engine, which is powered by a 47-horsepower electric motor and a 1.5 kilowatt-hour traction battery. In addition, the line of units included the previous 2.7 and 3.5 liter turbo engines, five-liter aspirated V8s, and six-cylinder diesels.
