Ford presents the very first Ford GT Heritage Edition, a tribute to victory at Daytona in 1966

ord today unveils two new versions of its 2016 Le Mans-winning supercar: the very first Heritage Edition inspired by the original model’s first endurance victory at the Daytona 24 Hours in 1966, as well as an all-new Studio Collection pack featuring exclusive design elements.

The Heritage Edition is the latest addition to the Ford GT family of supercars, in homage to the winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1966, where Ford claimed its first victory in 24 hours of endurance, a scene transcribed in the film “ Le Mans 66 ”.

The first Ford GT in tribute to Daytona

Drivers Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby led the Ford domination, which came to 1-2-3-5 spots at Daytona, kicking off a magical season for the Ford GT40 MK II, with wins (and even 1-2-3 triplets) at Sebring and Le Mans. This Heritage edition is the first to present a livery for a race other than the Le Mans event.

“Miles and Ruby led almost every lap of the 24 hour race and beat the competition by 30 miles”said Mike Severson. “This victory was the first time anyone has challenged Ferrari’s racing dominance and represented a major milestone in the Ford GT’s racing program”.

Inspired by the white, black and red exterior of the Ford GT40 MK II, victorious in the endurance race in 1966, the new Ford GT Heritage Edition 2021 is characterized by a Frozen White exterior paint with a carbon fiber hood that adds a stark contrast. Unique Ford graphics on the rear, 20-inch Heritage Gold forged aluminum rims and red lacquered Brembo monoblock brake calipers complete this new livery.

Inside, the cabin features unique amenities including the instrument panel, steering wheel in black Alcantara®, while shift paddles and performance seats in red Alcantara add contrast to the interior.

For customers seeking an even more personal style, an optional “Heritage” element package includes 20-inch carbon fiber rims while the one-piece brake calipers are lacquered in black and detailed with a Brembo lettering in red. Inside, the numbers “98” provide a subtle contrast on each of the two carbon fiber fenders.

A new original series “Ford GT Studio Collection”

Ford Performance has also developed a new exclusive series for the GT range, the “Ford GT Studio Collection”. This all-new, customizable color graphics pack highlights key design cues, including the gills and cooling ducts that allow the 2021 Ford GT to deliver 660 horsepower during the toughest driving sessions, even at high temperatures. .

Its unique exterior design is the result of a collaboration between Ford Performance and Multimatic which manufactures the Ford GT. It reflects the contribution of Garen Nicoghosian, Head of Design at Multimatic, who has worked on the Ford GT program since its inception.

Only 40 units will benefit from the Studio Collection pack for Ford GTs produced in 2021 and 2022. Bodywork and design can be customized with seven standard colors or with an extended palette offering endless color combinations for greater exclusivity.

Deliveries of the 2021 Ford GT will begin in early 2021, and production of the Ford GT will end in 2022.
