What is the best way to display a car feature? Not with demos or patents, but with a 1300 horsepower drift missile. Although if we are frank, with that level of power any demonstration is taken for granted. Ford wants people to know that the new Mustang has a specialized skid brake, that’s nothing new.
What’s new is that to give visibility to that feature, which essentially allows anyone to create Keiichi Tsuchiya, Ford teamed up with Vaughn Gittin Jr to create another drift colt. By the way, Gittin Jr isn’t just a racer, he also mods Mustangs with his RTR company, and helped develop the new model’s electric brake. Which is simpler than you think, and will create a lot more memes of Mustangs losing control and crashing around.

What the Ford Mustang’s drift mode or skid brake does is ignore traction and stability control to lock the rear wheels. What a handbrake does, only with a dedicated lever for it independent of the actual handbrake.
